Lost Again Pineapple Sweet and Sour Stir Fry Sauce

Leave the beaten path with this yin and yang of flavor where sweet pineapple is
balanced with lime juice to create a harmonious sauce.

Stir fry sauce isn't just for stir frying. Here are a few other ideas we've picked up along the way:

Lettuce Cups

Cook ground chicken, turkey, pork or beef in a hot pan with fresh minced ginger and garlic. Add chopped water chestnuts and baby corn and toss with Pineapple Sweet & Sour Sauce. Stir until sauce is hot. Spoon the filling into lettuce cups.

To prepare lettuce cups: Place a head of iceberg lettuce on a cutting board and cut off 1/3 of the core side. Place the larger piece in cold water and soak for 10-12 minutes. Remove lettuce from water and gently pull the "cups" away from the head of lettuce. Each lettuce head will yield about 6 cups of various sizes.

Crispy Tofu and Watercress Salad

Cut firm tofu into 1-inch squares and let dry on paper towels in the refrigerator for 24 hours. Heat about 2 inches of oil in a heavy skillet to 350°F. Carefully place the tofu in the oil and gently stir the cubes with a slotted spoon until golden brown. Drain and top each cube of tofu with a pinch of freshly grated ginger. Serve with a cool salad of bean sprouts and watercress dressed with Pineapple Sweet & Sour Sauce.

Slaw Dressing

Thinly slice Napa cabbage and purple onions, and toss in a large bowl with grated carrots, crisp bean sprouts, whole basil leaves, chopped scallions and Pineapple Sweet & Sour Sauce. Refrigerate the slaw for an hour, toss again, and serve.

Tropical Fruit Relish

Finely chop red onion, celery, mandarin oranges and roasted red bell peppers. Mix with the Pineapple Sweet & Sour Sauce and Dijon mustard to taste. Refrigerate until needed. Great on grilled meats, seafood or vegetables.
